There have been some changes here at Littleton High School in the last few weeks. This includes new additions at the athletic and cafeteria entrances, as well as a new mural in the language arts hallway. Those would be: the letters LHS on the cafeteria windows, facing outward towards the road; the banners and stickers of the Lion and the words of unity here at Littleton in the athletic entrance. And finally, the stars and moon mural in the language arts hallway shows the journey graduating seniors take after high school.

These new designs are a way to brand the school and showcase the LHS spirit for all to see. After talking with people around the school, we got some feedback on what they felt about the new decorations.
One person said that it is very pretty and colorful, and makes the school look better with all the branding for the school. Some said that it wasn’t super beneficial and that they aren’t super pretty, and they were a waste of money. But the majority of people who were asked said they hadn’t even noticed anything new. Others specified that they don’t use those entrances all the time, and it does not affect them if they are there or not.

Seniors were asked their opinions on the new additions, some said that they were pretty and added a fun new look to the school, and that they were very colorful and made a lot of sense to add them. However, there were a few opposing thoughts. Some students said that they were not needed, while liking the mural in the hallway because that was supporting student art, the other additions were not useful, and many went on to talk about how it was a waste of money, while we could have used that money to fix the bathrooms, or give more money to the arts programs, or sports.

Mr. Enzminger was asked about the decision-making process behind the project, and he talked about how the post-grad teacher and Mr. Wagner were in charge of the mural, and then Dr. Velazquez led the decal additions. He went on to talk about how it was to show the school’s pride: “We had the window decals in the front, athletic entrance, and cafeteria to show our pride and get our school colors out there. This school is also kind of dated, so any way to make it less so is also nice!” He also included how the funding for this project was a combination of athletics and activities funds, student council, and prior student class funds that were left over. Overall, he talked about how it was a way to spread our school pride and show that everyone is welcome and belongs here at LHS.
