On Friday, May 8th, the LHS Choirs put together a delightful POPS! concert emceed by Sophomores Levi Bechtold and Julian Schultz, filled with laughter, drama, and stories that transcended time. Before it had begun, the audience streamed into the theatre, buzzing with excitement for the most anticipated concert of the year. It was filled to the brim, with many viewers sitting on the floor or standing in the back to enjoy the show.
To begin the night, Treble Choir opened with their “Here Comes Treble” mix. It was a sassy, fast-paced show that combined a mixture of rock and pop. They belted Queen, had dance-offs, and brought a rebellious, dynamic energy to the stage.

Treble Choir was followed by a lovely acapella arrangement of “Everything” arr. Kirby Shaw, performed by LHS Singers, and then Sophomore Liam Clune and Freshman Mallory Gore’s performance of “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Moving the clock forward, Syrens’ “Lost in Time” mix featured a metallic time machine that they used throughout the show to hide behind and incorporate in the performance. Beginning in the Jurassic era with a giant inflatable dinosaur, the Syrens jumped through several time periods such as Ancient Greece, the 90s, and the far future.

Next, Sophomores Abby Heider and Ethan Ferguson’s enchanting duet, “Black and White” by Rainbow Kitten Surprise was a highlight of the night. Ethan’s skills on the acoustic guitar and both of the musicians’ vocals blended together wonderfully. Afterwards, Sophomore Abby Suque’s “Cup-Song” was an impressive display of rhythm and pitch perfection.
After intermission, Tenor/Bass Choir brought the glam with their disco-infused “Glitter” mix. With fake tuxedo shirts and one sparkling silver glove, the guys created a fun, high-energy performance filled with clever choreography and rockstar glamor.
LHS Singers took to the stage once again to sing a bittersweet rendition of “Big Yellow Taxi” arr. Adam & Matt Podd. The yellow accents they wore and the happy sound of the song contrasted with the deeper meanings that touched on loss and grief. Continuing the somber theme, Sophomore Raelyn Borron and Senior Ava Martin sang “The Only Exception” by Paramore powerfully.

The mood was promptly uplifted by Troubadour’s “Night At Our Museum” mix, a funny, kooky performance that was a bizarre collage of all sorts of things you might find in a museum. After being transported to Ancient Egypt, the jungle, and colonial United States, the museum found itself being robbed by Gru (played by LHS history teacher, Colin Behnke) and his loyal minions, as well as not just one, but two villainous Megaminds.
After a good laugh, the audience was brought back to sentimental memory lane with the traditional Senior song (this year, “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star) and slideshow. This moment highlights every single Choir Senior, their plans for their future, and a meaningful quote.
To close the night, all choir students and previous alumni gathered on the stage to sing The Lion Sleeps Tonight. For some of the Seniors, this would be their last time singing this treasured LHS song while being a student at Littleton. As a whole, the POPS! Concert was a rollercoaster of emotions, and a success.
