This past weekend, Littleton Lions’ Calculus Team competed in the 18th annual Calculus Bowl against 22 other teams at STEM High School in Highlands Ranch. Our team swept the competition clean, with members including: Junior Grayson Manuel, Junior Meher Sandhu, Freshman Tyson Clemens, Senior Sam Morris, Sophomore Ava Palmer, and Sophomore Xander Accas.
It takes an incredible amount of teamwork to be able to succeed at the Calculus Bowl, and we are so proud of our Lions for defeating the competition.
When talking to Junior Grayson Manuel about what his favorite part about the Calculus Bowl was, he said, “My favorite thing was getting a problem I knew how to do really well, and solving it.” We know our team has been doing a lot of preparation for this so we are so glad that it all paid off.
Manuel was also asked about what he was most proud of during this competition season and he said, “This is our second school competition and I am proud of how well our team is able to do in multiple different areas of math.”
However, winning doesn’t come without challenges so Manuel was asked about what were some of the challenges he faced during the competition. “During the final, we missed two questions in a row, and were down compared to the other teams. Tyson answered most of the questions, and I could tell that he was discouraged,” said Manuel. “However, we were able to get the next two thanks to Tyson, and as a result, we gained confidence as a team, and got in striking distance of the lead once again.”
It seems like Tyson and the team were able to work together to be able to problem solve! They couldn’t have done it without each other. We are so proud of you Lions and always remember the sky is the limit.
