Boys’ cross country competes at 4A state meet

On Saturday, the boy’s Cross Country Team competed in the 4A State Meet in Colorado Springs. After a very successful season, the team had high expectations for themselves at State and they competed at a high level.

The State team prepared for Saturday’s meet and celebrated the end of the season last week. To prepare for the race, the team had practice everyday leading up to the meet to taper and let their bodies relax.

The State team is made of 7 runners; Seniors Kaden Pullar, Luke Suro, and Daniel Grady, Sophomores Hank Chojnacki and Rowan Ingraham, and Freshmen Tyler West and Jonas Fontaine. For those unfamiliar with Cross Country, Pullar explains how the State meet works.

“You run seven athletes and you score the top five, and everyone is handed a point. The team with the lowest points at the end, that’s how you place,” said Pullar.

The five runners that were scored achieved times under 18 minutes, and Kaden Pullar is proud of his team’s success at the meet.

“It went great. We ran the fastest time our school has run in five years there, and we had the lowest split between our runners in five years. All of our returning athletes PRed by over 40 seconds,” said Pullar.

The sole freshman that was scored, Tyler West, had a very impressive race and will only continue to improve throughout his high school Cross Country career.

“We had our fastest freshmen run as well, Tyler ran 17:50,” said Pullar.

Luke Suro highlights the team’s top performance, which was Pullar’s impressive 17:06 time.

“Kaden ran the fastest time our school has run there in six years,” said Suro.

Seniors Luke Suro and Kaden Pullar reflect on their last high school cross country season. There were many highlights throughout the fall, but one stands out in particular for the two seniors.

“My favorite part about the season was winning,” said Suro.

“Yeah, mine is winning leagues,” said Pullar.

This year’s group was the strongest Boy’s Cross Country team at Littleton in years. The majority of the State team were underclassmen, so the team hopes to continue their success next year despite the absence of the three current Seniors.  For those of you interested in joining Cross Country, practices begin next summer, so come on out!
