Freshman Tabitha Miscall makes waves on the LHS Girls Swim Team

This season, Freshman swimmer Tabitha Miscall has taken the LHS Swim Team by storm. Miscall has been swimming competitively ever since she was four, and joined club swim at the age of nine.

At LHS, Miscall swims the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Individual Medley. In just this season alone, she has made her way to the state competition as one of the only freshmen on the state team, and she was a finalist in the state competition for 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. She was also the League Champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley, and the High Point Winner for the 4A Jeffco League.

Another huge achievement for her was making the Colorado 4A All-State team, a first time achievement for girl’s swimming in the past few years.

Staying healthy throughout the season is a big part of her focus through the season. She talked about how overall health and self-care is vital to being in shape for the swimming season. Miscall makes sure to eat good and healthy foods and avoid sweets and processed foods when possible. She makes sure to work out consistently in the weight room to help with strength.

“I always have to stretch every night, and I’m going to PT just to make sure that I don’t get hurt,” said Miscall.

When asked how the change was from club swim to the high school team, Miscall said, “It’s been good. I think going to high school is a big change from club. The meets and practices are very different, so it was kind of a change, but I think it was good.”

She is eager to grow even more through swim, stating her goals for the next season. She hopes to break the school record for the 100 Breaststroke, which she missed by less than a second this year.

“I feel very accomplished with these awards, but I know that I can grow and become even better next year!” said Miscall.
